ART IN TARTA
Art in TARTA is a cooperative effort between the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo, the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority, and Bowling Green State University to encourage the community's exposure and appreciation for the arts through the artistic enhancement of buses, bus shelters, and bus stops throughout TARTA's service area. In the first phase, Toledo area high school students who have participated in writing workshops provided by the Arts Commission write and submit poetry to the Art in TARTA competition. In the second phase, selected BGSU graphic design students design TARTA bus wraps based on the poetry. I was a participant in 2007 and 2008 and had one design selected each year. The theme for the poetry and bus designs was Restore Planet Earth both years, so the designs are meant to be uplifting and environmentally motivated. The photos below display my selected designs as well as my additional submissions to the competition.
