URBAN FOREST TOLEDO
The Urban Forest Project is an initiative that began in New York City and has since made its way to Toledo. The Project invites designers to use the metaphor of a tree to make a visual statement about sustainability. My banner uses the chemical formula of chlorophyll, the pigment that makes green stuff green, to comment on the complex problem that we have created. The formula represents the complex path we must take to fix our wastefulness while the campy type above ironically proclaims that our problems aren’t that complicated. This language plays on the ignorance of those who don't feel the need to change. The leafy dot patterns in the background also play on the complexity of the formula by reducing green to it’s essential components.
